  43. plus the demo version of trueSpace for Windows from Caligari, 
  44. plus a demo version of Visual Reality for Windows from Visual Software, 
  45. plus the demo version of RenderWare for Windows from Criterion Software Ltd.

  48. via ftp on avalon.vislab.navy.mil in the /pub/misc/3D-ROM directory.
  49. The Syndesis 3D-ROMs are ISO-9660 discs, fully accessible from
  50. MS-DOS, Macintosh, Amiga and Unix workstations.  Each includes a
  51. fully indexed, categorized and cross-referenced catalog of the
  52. objects complete with thumbnail renderings.  Each 3D-ROM is 
  53. normally $99.95.

  58. We've made a CDROM snapshot of the Internet's most popular 3D repository.
  59. The Syndesis Avalon disc contains the complete contents of the site
  60. known as avalon.vislab.navy.mil as of July 1994.  This archive contains
  61. more than 1,200 models in various formats as well as documents, utilities
  62. and source code.  This ISO-9660 disc is readable on any computer, but is
  63. also Rock Ridge compatible, meaning the original Unix filenames reappear
  64. on Unix/Linux systems.  Save yourself hours of downloading!

  68. How to get a free 3D-ROM
  69.  
  70. We give away hundreds of copies of each 3D-ROM to those people who
  71. contribute models for the next edition of the disc.  If you send us
  72. one or more 3D models that we can include on the next 3D-ROM, and we
  73. use your models on that disc, you get a free copy of that disc.  
  74. Ask us for a "submission form."  The deadline for the Siggraph 95 disc
  75. is June 30.  If we use your model(s), you'll get a free copy of 
  76. Syndesis 3D-ROM Volume III in August!

  79. Why do we do it?

  81. The Syndesis 3D-ROMs are a demonstration of the 3D conversion
  82. abilities of Syndesis's InterChange.  InterChange translates between 
  83. more than thirty 3D file formats including AutoCAD DXF, 3D Studio, 
  84. Wavefront, LightWave, VRML, Inventor, Imagine, Swivel, Sculpt, 
  85. Sense8, trueSpace, BRender, RenderWare, RenderMorphics, Alias polyset, 
  86. Vista DEM and many others.  Material and hierarchy information 
  87. is preserved.  InterChange for Windows is $495.
